After graduation from the Far Eastern Higher Engineering Marine School in Vladivostok, Sergey started his seagoing career as AB onboard of chemical tankers latter as Chief Officer on Chemical and Product Tankers, advancing his Certificate of Cmpetency to an unlimited tonnage Master. Additionally, he was commissioned as Lieutenant in the Russian Naval Reserve, ultimately achieving the rank of Senior Lieutenant.
In June 1995 he joined as Chartering Manager the company Sinchart Shipping Pte Ltd., Singapore (Subsidiary of Prisco). End of 1997 he returned to Russia to join Primorsk Shipping Corporation as Chief Chartering Manager and rising to the position as CEO of the company. Beginning 2005 he joins Sovcomflot Russia as Senior Vice President (COO) and soon after in addition takes over the position as Managing Director of Unicom Management Services in Cyprus. At the helm of Unicom he ensures the safe and efficient operation of the fleet as well as the offices – under consideration that all necessary Safety and Environmental Protection Policies are implemented always focussing on the highest technical standards and future targets of the company. During his maritime career Sergey further pursued his studies in the sector achieving the M.Sc in Technical Management of Shipping Companies at the World Maritime University, Malmo and “President” Programme of the Academy of National Economy in Moscow and in the latter the Doctor of Business Administration at the Academy of National Economy Moscow.
ROBERT THOMPSON – FIRST DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR
On leaving Secondary education Robert started as a Technical Apprentice at Devonport Royal Naval Dockyard – Plymouth. The apprenticeship was tailored to give a basic knowledge of marine based engineering skills followed by drawing office and managerial training. In 1974 he joined British and Commonwealth shipping company sailing aboard Bulk carriers, Reefers, General Cargo and Passenger vessels. In 1978 he joined Jebsens UK as Second Engineer and then Chief Engineer aboard bulk carriers of various sizes. Moving ashore in 1985 as Engineer Superintendent he has since joined Unicom as technical Manager in 1992 and is now First Deputy Managing Director responsible for Newbuilding Projects and technical evaluation of the fleet.
NIKOLAY SPICHENOK – DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR / FLEET DIRECTOR
After graduating from the Tallinn Marine Colleague in Estonia in 1979 and the Far Eastern Higher Engineering Marine School in Vladivostok in 1986 Nikolay gained seagoing experience of 18 years on various vessel types and preceding being Master on oil and chemical tankers. He started his onshore career in 1998 as Port Captain with Samos Steamship Company in Greece, joined soon after Zodiac Maritime Agencies in London as Superintendent later on promoted to Technical Fleet Manager Gas Fleet and General Manager Chemical and Gas Fleet. In January 2006 he joined Unicom as Gas Business Development Manager being promoted soon after to Manager Gas Fleet and Business Development. Nikolay was a key member at the creation and development of the first Russian Gas fleet. In February 2007 he was promoted to Fleet Director, with the overall responsibilities to oversee the safe and efficient operation and performance of the managed vessels, including all safety and environmental issues. In addition he actively contributes to the development and maintenance of the QMS/SMS.
ALEXEY PROKOFYEV – DEPUTY MANAGING DIRECTOR HUMAN RESOURCES
Alexey is probably one of the directors who diversified his career in all main spheres of transport business field. He started his maritime career as a cadet of Leningrad Arctic College, then he graduated from St. Petersburg State martime Academy, Ship Engineering department. Further he devoted several years to St. Petersburg State Martime Academy as cadets' training officer for ship diesel engineers. After completion of military service, Alexey took the postion of Chief Security Officer on Passenger Ships in Baltic Shipping Company, St. Petersburg and further in Unicom Cyprus. In 1996 he joined Pulkovo Aviation Enterprise, St. Petersburg as a Head of Aviation Security of International Airport for period of 5 years.
Later he graduated from North-Western Academy of Public Administraion, speciaisation Staff management and continued his professional activity in JSC Russian Railways as Deputy Director Human Resources and Development of the leading Russian purchasing company "Roszeldorsnab" until he moved to Unicom Management Services (Cyprus) Ltd., initially as a Crew Manager and finally as Deputy Managing Director - Human Resource responsible for manning and training of about 4,000 seafarers employed onboard Sovcomflot Group vessels as well as supervision of all regional recruitment offices. Alexey's experience in the global logistics of transportation is considered to be a valuable asset to the SCF Group.
PANAYIOTIS CHRISTODOULOU - ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR
At the age of 19 Panayiotis started his career in the shipping industry with Hanseatic Shipping in 1988. He continued his professional studies and achieved his first vocational qualification in the year 1990 and is now a Fellow Member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants.In January 1990 he joined Harmstof Shipping and worked there as Chief Accountant for 6 years.In 1996 he joined Unicom Management Services (Cyprus) Ltd as Administration Manager and was promoted in March 2002 to Administrative Director and thus joined the Board of Directors.Apart from the responsibilities in the financial sector of the company he is also dealing with the Company’s Strategy Execution, Corporate Governance and shore based Human Resources. Due to his Cypriot Nationality, he liaises with all local authorities and other official bodies thus ensuring the smooth operation of the company in Cyprus and of course its active participation within the Cyprus society.
