On the 18th February 2009 Russia’s first LNG Plant built in the region of Shakalinsk, at Port Prigordnoye, was inaugurated by the Russian President and the Japanese Prime Minister. Among the official guests was as well Prince Andrew of Britain’s Royal Family

Due to this important occasion one of the 2 Ice class LNG carriers, the “GRAND ANIVA” which are owned by SCF and NYK was berthed alongside the plant, ready for the first loading by the inaugurated plant.

Apart of the official opening of the plant the group of the guests took the opportunity to visit the MV. “GRAND ANIVA” and were shown around the vessel.

Sovcomflot’s and Unicom ‘s on shore and off shore employees felt very honoured by the visit of the President on one of their vessels.
