Lloyds List Technical Editor Craig Eason onboard

Lloyds List Technical Editor Mr. Craig Eason was invited by Sovcomflot to join the vessel TIMOFEY GUZHENKO for a round trip Murmansk - Varandey.

Craig spent a number of years at sea, the majority of which were onboard crude oil, product and gas (LNG and LPG) tankers operated by some of the largest oil majors. After a three year apprenticeship he became a navigating officer, responsible for both bridge and deck duties (although he was not averse to going into the engine room occasionally).

After serving at sea, Craig came ashore to pursue a journalism career and is now the Lloyd’s List technical editor responsible for analysing how advances in ship operations, design and performance. He regularly covers the impact on the shipping community of changing regulations and technology updates

This is his first trip on an oil tanker of any kind since 1997 and will offer him a chance to see at first hand the technology, operational and legislative changes that have happened in the last decade. Living in Scandinavia Craig is also fairly acclimatised to the weather conditions, so an average temperature of abut -15 will not be too much of a shock.

With interest we read the Arctic block posted by Craig daily on Lloyds List thus we are attaching the complete report about his 10 days trip on board our TIMOFEY GUZHENKO at our Media section. Especially out of the reason that we learnt by the comments posted by readers that this report was read with great interest as it gives a detailed insight about the daily life on a tanker trading in the harsh Arctic region of Varandey as well as small view of the natural environmental beauty of this region.
