The Cyprus Minister of Communications and Works visits Unicom Offices
On the occasion of the visit of the Minister Mr. Nicos Nicolaides at the Cyprus Shipping Chamber meeting the Executive Committee Members of the Chamber to discuss acute and problematic issues of the Cyprus Shipping Industry the Minister took the opportunity to visit 5 major shipping companies in Limassol. Unicom was one of the companies and received the Minister and its delegates, Mr. S. Serghiou, Director of the Department of Merchant Shipping, and Mr. Thomas Kazakos, Director General of the Cyprus Shipping Council in its offices.

The minister was met by Mr. Sergey Popravko, Managing Director of Unicom and his management team. During a meeting the SCF Group was introduced by showing the most recent movie of thegroup including the latest additions of Unicom’s fleet (available on the Media section of Unicom’s website).


Unicom presented the Minister with a gift of the ship model of the World’s First Arctic Tanker MT. “VASILY DINKOV”, which was registered under Cyprus Flag upon delivery from the shipyard and transferred to Russian Registry after being bareboat chartered to OOO SCF Varandey

Afterwards the Minister took the time to discuss issues of interest and concerns of Unicom and conveying his understanding and support.

At the end of his visit the Minister was shown around the offices, especially paying attention to the crisis and media rooms for emergency situations.


Unicom appreciated the interest of the government and Minister Mr. Nicos Nicolaides in the Cyprus Shipping Industry and looks forward to a mutual and broad working relationship to further develop the growth of the shipping industry in Cyprus.
